River Art Show and Open House

Debbie's neice proudly displays her purchased art work. The River raised over $2,000.00 that night! Thanks to Amy Sentell and Debbie Imsande for all of your hard work! We especially want to thank all of the artists who donated crafts, art, and products for the sale! You are all awesome!

River Make Over






We even had our sink fixed by Dr. Dick Beaver!






The River was closed the last week in June and reopened with a whole new look. Virginia Bradley donated our new couch and Betsy Beaver performed her magic with a one-of-a-kind slipcover. Beautiful!

The floors were buffed and cleaned and look brand spankin new!




Check out our new chair pad covers designed and sewn by Betsy Beaver. Looking at them makes me smile!

2nd Annual Rolling at The River Bunco Tournament


The River ministry for women of First Presbyterian Church is holding its second annual Rolling at The River Bunco Tournament on Thursday, March 3 from 7 to 8:30 pm. Doors open at 6:45 pm and participants will be treated to yummy food, "mock" cocktails, songs by the Joyful Noise River Choir, Bunco, swag bags, and great prizes including $50 gift certificates to the Johnson City Country Club, free box lunches from Heavenly Ham, free lunch and gelato from Mona Lisa's, Java Bucks from Java Rush, free one hour "Financial Checkups" from Davis Garrison III of Preservation Financial Group and much more. For fun, players are encouraged to wear pink and black. The event is at The River located at 125 West Main Street and the suggested cost per player is $25.00 will all proceeds going to The River. Reserve a place for you or your team by calling to make a reservation at 423-926-8111. Can't make it that night? Become a "Virtual" player with a $25 dollar donation per player or $300 for a team with checks made out to The River and mailed to 125 West Main Street, Johnson City, TN 37604. Free Tax Preparation at The River

Need help completing your taxes this year? The River is partnering with Milligan College business students to offer free tax preparation on Mondays from 1-3 pm at The River. Simply bring your W2, Social Security numbers for all who will appear on your taxes, and any other tax information you may have. Call 423-926-8111 to schedule an appointment.

The Joyful Noise River Choir

On January 25, 2011 our choir was honored to perform for the East Tennessee Foundation's annual meeting at the Foundry in Knoxville, Tennessee. The River received funding through the Harris Family Fund of Washington County which is a part of the East Tennessee Foundation. The ladies sang for 45 minutes and were treated to an amazing lunch, too. It was a very special day for all of us!! 6th Annual Thanksgiving Day Luncheon at The River

Most of our Thanksgiving team and guests at The River.

On November 15th, the prayer group lead by Susan Katko served their 6th Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon to the ladies of The River.

There were smiles all around and great fellowship after Debbie's awesome devotional. It reminded us to always be thankful, even for things we do not have.
