An Elvis Blue Christmas at The River
We hosted 50 women to a special BBQ Elvis Blue Christmas Luncheon on December 18th at The River.
Each guest received a bag of kisses from Elvis, gift baggies with snacks and gloves from a local Baptist church, and a special goody bag with all kinds of treats and $5 McDonald Cards provided from the Deacons of First Presbyterian Church.
Stacy played Elvis on her record player.
Susan made some delicious cupcakes- banana with peanut butter frosting. Ana and Bella helped pass them out to our guests.
Our BBQ came from Firehouse BBQ and it was delicious!

GIFT MART AT FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
The River display at the Christmas Gift Mart at First Presbyterian Church. Six other ministries had displays and church members were able to make donations to their ministry(s) of choice as gifts for their loved ones.
The gift mart was from 8:15-12:45 allowing members from both services to attend.
Sharing Loads of God's Love at Christmas.
We had 16 donors and raised a total of $710.00. Awesome! Thanks First Presbyterian and thanks to Covenant Presbyterian for hosting The River at their Alternative Gift Mart last weekend. Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving at The River 2012
Angel gives Susan a haircut (top) and Heather gave Angela a trim (below) during Free Hair Cut Day which was the same day as out Thanksgiving Luncheon hosted by Susan Katko's women's prayer group for the 7th year in a row. We had fun watching haircuts while waiting to eat the yummy turkey!
We had around 40 women in attendance and just like when Jesus fed the masses in the New Testament, we had enough food to go around too.
Paula, Jackie and Melissa sit down to eat with the king, Elvis Presley.
Telina, Shirley, and Betty enjoy each others company and the beautiful decorations before devotions.
Melissa looks at the special Bible verse cards that each woman received. They were made by Shelly and by the residents at John Reed Nursing Home where the Joyful Noise River Choir goes to sing throughout the year.
Preparing to eat after devotions by Susan.
Susan gives devotions and then the ladies shared what they were grateful for this year.
They really enjoyed the devotions and the meal!
What a lovely and yummy blessing for everyone at The River- thanks to our Turkey Day Dream Team!
ETSU Nursing Students Foot Care Class At The River
We are blessed to partner with ETSU's Nursing Department and each semester students conduct health related workshops for our guests at The River. This semester the focus was on foot care. Many of our ladies spend hours walking each day in shoes that are ill-fitting and several are diabetic. This class showed us how to care for our feet, recognize problems, and gave us tools to take better care of our feet. The students also treated the ladies to pizza and water bottles, too! Thanks ladies and happy graduation this month!

Thanks to our Organizational Angels from Grace Fellowship
OUR FABRIC AREA WAS A HUGE MESS!!! At The River we have an area for women to create- including sewing. There are 3 sewing machines, free fabric, and a file cabinet full pf patterns. As you can see, the fabric shelves needed an intervention and received it from a prayer group from Grace Fellowship.
These organizational angels not only brought the storage containers and organized all the fabric by color, but they treated the River guests to the sound of beautiful singing. Instead of whistling while they worked, they sang hymns and old favorites in perfect harmony. What a treat!
CHECK OUT THESE AFTER PHOTOS! WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE! THANK YOU LADIES!
